"FRANTIC," "LEX" PREPPING WELL FOR 2026 AT PHILLY

By: Jerry Connors, Jr.
CHESTER PA – The two horses who last year swept their four Pennsylvania 9ire Stakes preliminaries and then were triumphant in their Championships, pacing colt Frantic Hanover and trotting filly Ginger Tree Lex, both added a second qualifying win to their preparation for their coming sophomore campaign at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Frantic Hanover, who went the fastest mile ever by a two-year-old on a five-eighths mile track, 1:49.1, in winning his PaSS Championship, won Tuesday in 1:54.1 on the engine, snapping off back numbers of :56.1 - :28 – and needing them to withstand a :27 last quarter from Caviart Anders by a neck. Tim Tetrick was in the sulky behind the Stay Hungry colt Frantic Hanover, trained by Ron Burke for Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Brad Grant, and Knox Services Inc.

Fellow Burke Brigade member Al Papi, second to “Frantic” in the Pennsylvania finale and a winner in his first 2026 qualifier, cut the pace but was beaten by three quarters of a length in another event, which was won in the fastest time of the day, 1:53.1, by pocketsitting Gentleman’s Club. The Downbytheseaside - See You At Peelers colt, winner of the Governor’s Cup in November, was ready for his first trip behind the gate this season, motoring home in :54.3 - :27 for driver Andrew McCarthy and trainer Aaron Lambert.

The Bar Hopping filly Ginger Tree Lex continued her winning Pennsylvania ways with a victory in 1:57.2, coming her own back half in :55.4 via the uncovered route. Driven by Andrew McCarthy for trainer Steve Cook and the ownership of Sam Beegle, Ginger Tree Ventures LLC, Knollview Stable 2, and Bob Reber Jr., Ginger Tree Lex is reportedly looking at the new $300,000 Oak Grove Trotting Oaks, to be held Saturday, May 16 at the Kentucky oval.

Two trotters went in 1:56.4 for the day’s speed honors on that gait: the Greenshoe three-year-old gelding Highland Destiny, a pocket rocket while closing in :57.1 - :28.2 for driver Scott Zeron and trainer Nancy Takter, and the four-year-old Walner mare Walspea, making every pole a winning one and showing a :55.3 - :27.2 kick on the end for driver-trainer Trond Smedshammer.

The 6three-year-old pacing fillies were topped speedwise by the Perfect Sting miss Interstellar, who was very good on the engine to win in 1:55.1 - :56.2 - :27.4 for driver Scott Zeron and trainer Tony Alagna.

Scott Zeron had four victories during the thirteen race morning session, one more than Andrew McCarthy; trainer with doubles were Tony Alagna, Chris Ryder, and Nancy Takter.

WILKES-BARRE PA – Confident Volo will be the only male Weiss Series performer to enter his Championship race next week after going unbeaten in all three preliminaries, a feat he completed in his $17,500 division of the third Weiss prelim for trotting males at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon.

On a windy and brisk day where the temperature barely cracked 40, the Bar Hopping gelding Confident Volo moved to the lead in front of the stands and held the front position to the wire. His backers may have had their confidence shaken a little as Bee Positive (Walner – Be A Magician) closed well, but the three-time Weiss winner went on to win by a neck in 1:56.3 for driver Tyler Buter, Pocono’s top pilot, trainer Todd Buter, and Oldfield Racing LLC as he remained unbeaten in four seasonal starts.

The other two Weiss winners in this group notched their second series success. The International Moni gelding Dilly Hanover, who started his career with two wins before finishing a moderate third last week, rebounded to take the fastest section of the series and a new mark with a time of 1:55.3. Braxten Boyd also guided his trotter to the lead in the second quarter then came home in :57.1 to win by a length over stalker Captain Micah for trainer Emily Bost, also co-owner with R K 4 Racing and Bruce James Potter.

The win of the Captain Corey gelding Captain Vodka was part of a successful day for all three Weiss favorites. His 1:56.1 win saw every pole a winning one for Captain Vodka as he absolutely dominated his field, winning by 3½ lengths for his second straight success and fourth win in five 2026 outings for trainer Robert Baggitt Jr., co-owner with J L Sadowsky LLC and Christine Baggitt.

Captain Vodka was driven by Ridge Warren, who had six visits to the winners circle on Monday to tie the Pocono seasonal high previously established by Brett Beckwith and Tyler Buter. The 37-year-old boosted himself into the Top Five of the Pocono driver standings with the outstanding day. Jason Bartlett had three victories and Tyler Buter two; the only two-time training winner was Kevin Reynolds Jr., both of his horses driven by Warren.

Weiss preliminary action concludes on Tuesday with third-round races for fillies on both gaits, with the trotter Concise the only entrant who could post a third Weiss prelim victory during the 1 p.m. card. $50,000 Championships, plus $20,000 consolations if filling, will start this coming Saturday (April 25) for the top preliminary performers. HEAVEN NEEDS ME SUCCESSFFUL ON SUNDAY AT PHILLY

By: Jerry Connors, Jr.
CHESTER PA – Heaven Needs Me, second in his first start of the year against the good Another C Note, went one better in the $13,500 featured pace at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon, rallying off cover on a track not known for being kind to closers to win in 1:53.1. He stepped his own last half in :56.1 on a day when the temperatures plummeted (again) and did not reach 50 degrees.

Simon Allard got away midpack with the Capt Midnight gelding, then was able to work out a second-over trip behind Smooch In The Dark. That one was able to grind down pacesetting favorite TH Colby, but then the winner paced past his cover provider late for a length decision. Chelsey Faurot owns and trains the sharp-looking sidewheeler.

Allard was able to come back and capture the $13,000 fast-class pace with the eleven-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven gelding Lyons Steel in 1:52. The veteran went past early leader Armada Hanover in front of the stands the first time around, and then the second time around he withstood the comeback of that rival by half a length for trainer Jose Ramos and BD Racing LLC.

As “horses for courses” go, Lyons Steel and Harrah’s Philly fit like a hand in a glove. The greybeard is 28 for 95 lifetime at the southeast Pennsylvania, a percentage of nearly 30 to win, whereas at other tracks he is just off 20% with a 38-for-193 record.

Simon Allard also was the pilot of Solid Character, who posted the fastest time of the day 1:50.4, just a fifth off the local standard set on Friday by his Burke Brigade stablemate, the mare Champagne Room.

Along with Allard’s journée des trois gagnants, drivers Tim Tetrick and Joe Bongiorno built on their strong Friday production with a super Sunday showing. Tetrick won four times Sunday, giving him eight for the week and a meetleading fifteen wins (an average of three per day). Bongiorno had a second straight driving-training double, taking over the top spot in the conditioners ranks with an amazing record at the meet of 10-7-3-0-.867. Ron Burke and Chelsey Faurot had training doubles.

Racing resumes at the southeast Pennsylvania oval on Thursday at 12:25, with a very competitive $13,000 fast-class trot topping the racing menu. The following Thursday (April 30), Philly will be dark because it will host a special Saturday at 12:40 card on Kentucky Derby Day, May 2. TURN UP THE MUSIC, TRAVOLTA HANOVER DANCE HOME AT PHLLY

By: Jerry Connors, Jr.
CHESTER PA – Turn Up The Music and Travolta Blue Chip, a Saturday Night Fever parlay even on a Friday, both danced home victoriously in the $12,000 featured races for developing horses at Harrah’s Philadelphia, giving owner Morrison Racing Stables a sweep of the headliners.

Turn Up The Music, a daughter of Tall Dark Stranger, pushed away hard from the gate in the distaff pace then yielded for the pocket as the 1-1 second choice. She stayed in the hole until She’s A Rich Girl, the 1-1 first choice, came out entering the far turn, and driver-trainer Joe Bongiorno got the winner moving in high gear quickly, making the lead early in the lane and then holding safe the chalk by 1¾ lengths. Turn Up The Music lowered her mark to 1:51.3 while pacing her own back half in :55.3.

Travolta Hanover took over the throttle at the quarter and was in control for the rest of the 1:55 mile in the co-featured trot, with Abbey Blue Chip closing on him late but no closer than three quarters of a length on the money. The winning son of Muscle Hill, who came his last half in :56.3, was driven to the convincing triumph by Mark Herschberger for trainer Annie Stoebe.

Top event for the fast-class horses on the day was an $11,500 handicap pace for distaffs to open the card, and potential backers of the $319,486 four-year-old Papi Rob Hanover – See You At Peelers mare Champagne Room got a subtle tip from the horse’s connections, trainer Ron Burke and Team Burke / Weaver-Bruscemi – they lured Yannick Gingras to Philly for a cameo appearance behind the mare.

Bet down to a heavy favorite despite not racing in just over five months, Champagne Room served notice she might be in the top mares mix this year with a powerful win in 1:50.3 after making two moves, though she was extended by second-over Reckless Abandon and won by three parts of a length. after pacing her last split in :27.

Joe Bongiorno scored a natural hat trick in both the drivers and trainers column starting with his feature win behind Turn Up The Music, and led the horsemen’s colonies on the day. Driving doubles were turned in by Johnathan Ahle, Mark Herschberger, and perennial Philly leader Tim Tetrick; Noel Daley sent out two winners from his barn.

Features for both up-and-coming and established pacers will top the week-ending Sunday card at Harrah’s Philadelphia, which begins at 12:40 p.m. Free Philly program pages are or will be available at www.phha.org.

TODD MC CARTHY DRIVES SEVEN WINNERS AT PHILLY

4/17/2026

By: Jerry Connors, Jr.
CHESTER PA – In Todd McCarthy’s first 2026 action at Philly this past Sunday, he failed to hit the board in six drives. But on the track’s next card on “Trottin’ Thursday,” the transplanted Australian made up for lost time – he visited the winners circle on seven occasions, including taking both feature races.

The $16,000 fast-class trot saw McCarthy get away in the pocket with the Alarm Detector gelding Indy Be Quick, duck inside for the drive, then just prevail over fellow Dover shipper Arrowhead Hanover while taking a new mark of 1:53. Arrowhead Hanover went a giant mile himself uncovered, but came up a nose shy on the money. Team Neilsen – trainer Dawn Erin and owner David – saw their trotter raise his lifetime bankroll to $252,026.

As taxing as Indy Be Quick’s victory was, the win in the $13,500 co-feature trot for McCarthy and Southwind Alamo was just as easy, despite the three-year-old Tactical Landing colt having to be the first-up in his seasonal debut. But the promising sophomore handled the hard journey with aplomb, lowering his speed badge to 1:53.3 for trainer Ron Coyne Jr. and the partnership of Coyne & Pachuta Stable, Blair Corbeil, Richard Carney, and Mike McAllister.

Driver McCarthy raised his meet UDR up 433 points on the day with the seven-bagger, joined with a second and two thirds. He went from tied for last to second in the sulky standings, with Tim Tetrick, trying for his sixth straight Philly crown, doubling to add to his seven wins on the first two cards. The septet also set a 2026 high for Eastern Pennsylvania harness racing, as Brett Beckwith and Tyler Buter have both posted six-win days at Pocono.

There were two trainers on the card with two wins, Ron Coyne Jr. and Per Engblom, and they are the leading trainers at the two Keystone eastside tracks. Coyne tops all other conditioners with three in the three days of racing here, and Engblom leads the standings at Pocono. No extra points for guessing who drove all four of their winners.

Friday’s 12:25 card will feature a pair of $12,000 contests for developing horses and an $11,500 fast-class handicap pace for females which will start the card. Free Philly program pages are or will be available at www.phha.org.

CONCISE, ALLIOOP BLUE CHIP REPEAT IN WEISS TROT

WILKES-BARRE PA – Concise and Allioop Blue Chip were repeat winners in Bobby Weiss Series action for three-year-old trotting females on Tuesday afternoon, while on the pacing side no first prelim winner could duplicate that victory in their divisions of the second leg. Each purse on both gaits was $17,500.

Concise,  a daughter of Gimpanzee driven by Tim Tetrick for trainer Nik Drennan, whose Drennan Stable LLC shares ownership with Joseph Davino and Brad Shackman, was forwardly-placed throughout her mile, then had the most trot when swung wide by Tetrick to lower her mark to 1:55.3 while taking her record to two-for-two this year and three-for-four lifetime.

Just a tick behind Concise’s clocking while also lowering her lifetime best was Allioop Hanover, with whom driver Andrew McCarthy stayed close to the speed then was guided to the inside for the dash home and was along in plenty of time. Noel Daley conditions the Tactical Landing miss for R Lynn and Philomena Curry.

Tim Tetrick added a second Weiss trot win behind the Captain Corey filly Chestnut Kelly, who fanned wide for the drive and was along easily while taking a maiden mark of 1:56.4. Scott Di Domenico trains the winner for owner Angela Cornell.

The other series contest for diamondgaited distaffs went to the only non-favorite in the group, second choice Aviatrix Blue Chip, with the Chapter Seven miss coming from sixth at the half to notch her first lifetime success in 1:55.4 for driver Jason Bartlett, trainer Jared Bako, and Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc.

Just as Tim Tetrick drove the fastest Weiss trot winner, he also earned speed honors on the pace with the Always B Miki filly She B Minnie, who rallied with a pair of :27.1 back-end quarters to earn a new speed badge of 1:52.2. She B Minnie has five wins in her brief career, including three this year for trainer Michael Hall and owner Robert Tribbett, and she was the only non-chalk in the three Weiss paces.

Bringing a second success to sire Always B Miki was Red Hot Lahoma, who lowered her mark to 1:53 with a :55.3 last half in an engine tally. Ridge Warren guided the victress, the easiest of the Weiss winners with a 4¾ length margin at the line, for trainer Jeffrey Pinder and Carry S Stables LLC.

In the other sidewheeling cut, the Tall Dark Stranger filly Sundownsomewhere, photoed out in a :27 quarter in the first leg, this week produced a :26.4 flurry at crunch time to break her maiden in 1:53.1 and earn driver Jason Bartlett a Weiss win on each gait. Trainer Joe Bongiorno shares ownership through his Joseph Bongiorno LLC with Philip Steinberg and Crawford Farms LLC.

Driver Tetrick, who posted seven wins on the first two cards of the year at Philly this past weekend as he bids there for a sixth straight crown, led all Pocono drivers on Tuesday with three successes. Driving doubles were recorded by Jason Bartlett, Anthony Napolitano, and Ridge Warren; no trainer could double up on the card.

The third and final preliminary of Weiss action for the sophomore pacing colts will highlight the next Pocono card on Saturday at 1 p.m., with Twin B Thriller going for a sweep of the preliminaries; bettors will also note a carryover into the last race High 5 wager. CONFIDENT VOLO 2-FOR-2 IN WEISS, CAPTAIN VODKA IN 1:54.4

WILKES-BARRE PA – Confident Volo won his second straight preliminary in the Bobby Weiss Series for sophomore trotting males Monday afternoon at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, but Captain Vodka earned the major honors on the day by beating two other first-round winners and taking a new lifetime mark of 1:54.4 in another of three $17,500 Series events.

Captain Vodka, a Captain Corey gelding trained by Robert Baggitt Jr for himself, Christine Baggitt, and J L Sadowsky LLC, had a three-race win streak over two years broken with a hard-luck two-move fifth in the first Weiss leg. But on Monday he rejoined the win column, being parked to a :27.2 opener for command, after which driver Ridge Warren was able to back off the half to :57.2.

The pace sped up to a 1:25.4 three-quarters, and through the stretch Captain Vodka absolutely left no doubt of his supremacy this day, winning by 3 3/4 lengths over two other first-leg winners: Phoebus Hanover was second, and the previously-undefeated Dilly Hanover third after racing inside and appearing in tight quarters in the lane.

Confident Volo is now unbeaten in three 2026 starts after winning in 1:55.4, with identical back quarters of :28.3. The Bar Hopping gelding, second choice in the betting, was quite good but he also literally “got the breaks,” as five of seven rivals miscued, including wagering choices ranked 1-3-4-5. Tyler Buter, defending Pocono driving champion and ahead again this year, was in the sulky for trainer Todd Buter and Oldford Racing LLC.

The other Weiss section went to series newcomer King Of The Wind, who was five-wide early and on the rim until the three-eighths before taking control of the throttle. Driver Anthony Napolitano kept the Walner gelding going on the point, withstanding favored Bee Positive by three parts of a length in a lifetime best 1:55.1 for hot trainer Joe Bongiorno and El Dorado Stables.

“Anthony Nap” got a tremendous performance from the Cattlewash mare Worklifebalance, a New Jersey heroine last year at three, to end Raspalia N’s six-race Stateside win streak in 1:50 in a $17,500 pace for distaffs. The field was five in – three out at the :27 quarter, with Worklifebalance the last to the front approaching the :55.1 half. Raspalia N was on the winner’s back to and beyond the 1:22.1 three-quarters and fought on gamely, but Worklifebalance ended the win skein of her foe by a head for trainer Noel Daley, co-owner with KDP Stable LLC.

Raspalia N was knocked down to the shortest odds possible, and in upsetting that rival Worklifebalance paid $51.80 to win, combining with first race winner Xmarxthespot ($91.60) to give Pocono its first 2026 day of two $50+ win prices.

Many-time Pocono champion George Napolitano Jr. drove three winners on the card, including two for the meet’s leading trainer and only conditioner with a pair of Monday victories, Per Engblom. Driving doubles were recorded by Simon Allard, Braxten Boyd, Anthony Napolitano, and Ridge Warren.

The Weiss Series fillies will race their second preliminary round on the Tuesday 1 p.m. card, with four divisions of trotters and three of pacers looking to earn spots in their $50,000 Weiss Championships at the end of April. Free Pocono program pages are or will be available at www.phha,org.

LAFITTE, ANOTHER C NOTE SHIP IN AND WIN AT PHILLY

4/13/2026

By: Jerry Connors, Jr.
CHESTER PA – Another C Note posted a 29-1 upset over Lafitte when the pair of pacers met on March 30 at Pocono Downs. On Sunday (A[pril 12) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, they both came south and promptly won the two featured events – but it was Lafitte, up in class, who won the $14,000 headliner in 1:52.3, while Another C Note was in the subfeature and remained undefeated in two seasonal starts in 1:53.

Lafitte, a gelded son of Tall Dark Stranger trained by Travis Alexander for Morrison Racing Stables, was in the Pocono event as an “eligible at time of entry” (ETE) after a win, and his bankroll had swelled to the point that he had to take a step up. Lafitte still was backed down to 3 to 5 status Sunday, and driver Andrew McCarthy quickly got him to the top, set a solid pace, then withstood a tough first-over challenge from Lochlan Hanover by a length to move his seasonal record to 3-2-1-0.

Another C Note, who posted the big upset at the mountain track, still had the eligibility to race in the $13,500 subclass, and he drew off in the final quarter to win by 2½ lengths. A sophomore colt by Captaintreacherous, Another C Note was sent off at co-4 to 5 odds with Moneyhill GB (the latter had $16 more on him to win), yielded to that foe to sit in the two-hole then vacated that spot on the far turn, and his victory appeared never in doubt through the lane.

The twelve-year-old Shadow Play gelding Jack’s Shadow N made a :27.1 dash down the back to pass pacesetting favorite Spring Flash, who was coming off four straight wins at Rosecroft, and kept a 1½ length lead to the wire in the $13,000 fast-class handicap pace in 1:51.3. Tim Tetrick drove the winner of $485,327 to victory for trainer Scott Di Domenico, and the ownership of Di Domenico’s Triple D Stable Inc., Oompa’s Farm Inc., and Robert Mondillo. Jack’s Shadow N, unraced until four, recorded four wins Down Under before being imported at five, and since coming over he has posted 30 of his 49 Stateside victories at Harrah’s Philly, with a victory here in each of the last eight years.

Driver Tetrick, five-time defending dash champion at the riverside oval, added three wins Sunday to his quadruple on Opening Day while looking to want to go “wire-to-wire” for six straight crowns. Doubling drivers on the program were Joe Bongiorno, Andrew McCarthy, Patrick Ryder, and Ridge Warren; both of Patrick’s wins came for father-trainer Chris, the only conditioner to double.

Harrah’s next betting action comes on “Trottin’ Thursday” at 12:25, with fast diamondgaiters in the $16,000 feature, but the Tuesday qualifiers at 9:30 a.m. will be watched by many as stakes three-year-olds are putting the final touches on their preparations for the stakes season just around the corner. WILKES-BARRE PA – Twin B Thriller and Ooglesaurus are both two-for-two after four $17,500 divisions of the second preliminary of the Bobby Weiss Pacing Series for three-year-old males, conducted Saturday afternoon at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

The Always B Miki colt Twin B Thriller posted a shocking 1:49.4 clocking in his first Weiss prelim, and he had the same margin of victory, 1¾ lengths, after a 1:51.3 jaunt on Saturday. A early “stablemate” of his at the Twinbrook Limited nursery, Twin B Manhunt, rode in the pocket behind him and took second in a :55 back half behind the winner, driven by George Napolitano Jr. for trainer Dennis A Laterza and owners Ginko Stable Inc. and Latz A Luck Stable.

The Lazarus N gelding Ooglesaurus also doubled up in the Weiss, making a second move out of the pocket while dashing home in :27.1 in a 1:52.2 mile to catch favored Stingman by 1¼  lengths. Brett Beckwith had the lines for trainer Joe Bongiorno and Morrison Racing Stables.

The fastest of Saturday’s Weiss races, 1:51, saw the Perfect Sting gelding Thisbeestingsdeo break his maiden at 18-1. Matt Kakaley gave the Ron Burke trainee a nice third-in trip behind three sub-:28 quarters, then moved him out on the far turn and had enough late kick to thwart Pocono Pike shooter Justinian by a neck for Burke Racing Stable Inc., Lawrence Karr, Phil Collura, and Brad Grant.

Winning the other Weiss prelim, and taking a new mark of 1:52.1 in doing so, was the Stay Hungry gelding Northern Attitude, who benefitted from a pocket journey then had enough to turn back the fast-closing Hunthehuntr De Vie by a neck while pacing his own back half in :55.3. Ridge Warren drove for trainer Jake Leamon, who is also co-owner with Winners Circle Racing LLC.

In a $20,000 fast-class pace, Da Delightful showed he still has plenty of speed at age 10, the Bettor’s Delight gelding raising his lifetime bankroll to $601,983 after a 1:50.4 tally. Da Delightful was flying late after racing second-over to catch pacesetter Jackson Cooper by a half length for driver Braxten Boyd and trainer-owner Mark Silva.

“The BB Boys,” drivers Braxten Boyd and Brett Beckwith (the last two winners of USHWA’s Rising Star Award), combined to take down half of the fourteen race card. Boyd won four times, twice for both trainers Mark Silva and Tee Wine, while Beckwith’s trio included two for the meet’s top trainer Per Engblom. Three drivers clad in red and white, the Napolitano brothers (Anthony and George Jr.) and Ridge Warren, each visited Victory Lane twice on the afternoon.

Pocono next races on Monday at 1 p.m., when Weiss sophomore trotting males will find each of the three first-round winners looking to double up in the series. Free Pocono program pages are or will be available at www.phha.org.

HARRAH'S PHILADELPHIA OPENS 2026 RACING SEASON

4/11/2026

By: Jerry Connors, Jr.
CHESTER PA – Nature smiled upon the opening day of the 2026 season of harness racing at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Friday, with a cloudless sky and pleasant temperatures in the 60s greeting the trotters and pacers at the southeast Pennsylvania oval, which will mark its twentieth anniversary on September 12.

The first-day features were a pair of $12,000 contests for on-the-improve horses. The event on the pace, for females, went to the Tall Dark Stranger three-year-old With The Fur, who won a Liberty Bell Stake in her last start of 2025 (November 6), and came right back in top fettle in her 2026 bow. George Napolitano Jr. guided her to  the front and the pair held sway the rest of the journey to take a three-quarters of a length victory over favored pocketsitter Turn Up The Music while equaling her mark of 1:54.3 for trainer Ron Burke (who’s locally earned ten victory crowns; George has eight) and owner Howard Taylor.

On the trot, the Six Pack mare Mamy Wata benefitted from a cagey drive by Tim Tetrick (eleven Harrah’s titles, including the last five), sitting third on the rail and then able to come up the inside as two-holer Just Teasing moved outside to challenge in the lane. The winning margin was again three parts of a length, with Mamy Wata edging Just Teasing for trainer Ron Coyne Jr. and owner Paul Minore while posting a clocking of 1:56, missing her mark by a tick.

Tim Tetrick was in a hurry to begin defense of the Philly driving crown, winning four times on the afternoon. Mark Herschberger visited Victory Lane twice; no other driver, and no trainer, had more than one triumph.

Shaun Callahan, 44, a member of the famous Delmarva racing family which also races at Harrah’s Philadelphia, passed away this past Monday. The Harrah’s horsepeople gathered together in the winners circle in the traditional horseshoe configuration to honor his memory.

Racing resumes on Sunday at 12:40 with talented pacers of both the developing and fast-class variety in the feature spotlight. Harrah’s will race a basic schedule of Thursday and Friday at 12:25 and Sunday at 12:40; one variation will come on Kentucky Derby Saturday (May 2), when the track will host live racing at 12:40 after being dark the Thursday before.
