WILKES-BARRE PA – Though there were only five starters in the $11,200 claiming handicap distaff pacing feature on Monday afternoon at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, there was plenty of speed and contentiousness before the Jereme’s Jet mare Rose Run Toni claimed victory late in a lifetime best of 1:52.4.

Driver Marcus Miller pointed Rose Run Toni frontward at the start, but was forced to accept the early pocket as Dancing Lisa put her in behind before a :26.2 opener. Favored Ambro Courage N was on the move as the field went by the stands, getting the lead and passing the half in a quick :54.2 before Rose Run Toni mounted a second move down the backstretch, going head-to-head with the pacesetter to a 1:23 three-quarters.

GRATZ PA – The Andover Hall gelding Manhattanup No Ice equaled the track record of 1:58.4 for three-year-old trotting males at the Gratz (PA) fairgrounds during the “Fair” portion of a two-week stand at the eastcentral Pennsylvania twicearound on Saturday (2YOs) and Sunday (3YOs).

Manhattanup No Ice headed down the road in :29.2, :59, and 1:28.2 before equaling the local standard first established by S J Better Days in 2011. Todd Schadel is the owner, trainer, and driver of the six-time fair winner in 2020.

Schadel also accounted for the fastest mile of the meet a race earlier when he sent the Well Said pacing gelding Nome Hanover to the lead into turn two and went on to victory in 1:56.3. Todd drove and trains the sophomore, and he is co-owner with Timothy Hayes and Dr. Megan Moschgat.

WILKES-BARRE PA – Juxta Cowgirl shot up the famed Pocono Pike and won a blanket finish in 1:51.2 to take the $14,000 feature for distaff pacers during the Sunday twilight card at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

The $334,648-winning daughter of Relentless Yankee, handled by Anthony Napolitano for trainer Mike Watson and Glasser Racing LLC, surrendered the lead to Eclipse Me N and sat perfectly-placed as that one and favored Its Mesmerise N dueled from late backstretch into the lane. The mare then dipped inside and made a strong move late to win by a length over Vorst, who was further inside the Pike. The entire field of six was separated by only 2¼ lengths at the finish (and the last-placed finisher, Rock Star Melinda, had absolutely no room in the stretch, or the total grouping may have been even tighter).

WILKES-BARRE PA – Bell I No had won five straight races in the $16,000 top claiming handicap pace at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, all with George Napolitano Jr. driving (all after being claimed out of the previous race), but on Saturday the track’s leading driver selected off the streaking pacer in favor of Daamericansky, with whom he had won in 1:50.2 at Philly last time out and who was sent off as favorite.

For 5200+ feet of this week’s featured claimer, it looked like GNap and the crowd had made a winning selection as Daamericansky led from the go, but suddenly the Bettor’s Delight gelding Lachie Maguire N and driver Jim Marohn Jr. came flying late and caught the chalk in the last step in 1:51. Bell I No, who had to go first-over, settled for third here, and he will again be changing barns for the $30,000 claiming price.

BUY IN MOST IMPRESSIVE OF PHILLY FRIDAY FEATURE WINNERS

CHESTER PA – A quartet of $11,200 contests for developing younger horses, two races on each gait, were the features Friday afternoon at Harrah’s Philadelphia, with the most impressive winner the Western Ideal sophomore colt Buy In, who brought immediate returns for his new connections with a 1:51 victory, lowering his mark by almost five seconds.

Acquired by Triple D Stables Inc. and Tim Tetrick LLC after his last start and entrusted to trainer Scott Di Domenico, Buy In certainly did not have an easy route to victory. Tetrick kept him outside early, then let him gradually go up, and it took him to nearing the half to clear to the lead in a demanding :54.4. But after that point the only battle was for the minor honors, as Buy In powered off to win by 5¾ lengths, hinting that better things might be right around the corner for him.

CHESTER PA – The Explosive Matter gelding Scirocco Rob, who last week lost to the first-over Arabella’s Cadet in a track record 1:52 for trotting mares at Harrah’s Philadelphia, this week became the irresistible grinding force, making two moves en route to a 1:53.1 victory in Thursday’s $14,400 top-level trot on an overcast day at the riverside oval.

Leaving from post six in a field of seven, Scirocco Rob tucked third early as Mississippi Storm pushed favored Southwind Avenger most of a :26.3 quarter before ceding the lead. The “Avenger” got a breather to the :56 half, but Scirocco Rob was out and rolling down the back for driver George Napolitano Jr., going right at the leader to the 1:24.2 three-quarters and beyond, making the lead at headstretch.

CHESTER PA – The Bettor’s Delight mare Delishka N made a pace-controlling move in front of the stands the first time, then held off a wall of challengers the second time around to win the $14,400 featured distaff pace at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon in 1:51.

Dexter Dunn sent Delishka N out to early command, yielded to Bettor Joy N, then went onward again when favorite Machnhope made a move just past the :26.1 quarter. Delishka N went back to the lead around Bettor Joy N, with Machnhope, seeing a likely battle for pace control developing, got in a vacant three-hole before the :54.3 half.

WILKES-BARRE PA – The Cash Hall sophomore gelding Coventry Hall looks like he is finally growing into his pedigree, recording his second win in his last three starts with an effortless 1:54.4 triumph in a $10,400 trot at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono on Tuesday afternoon.

Coventry Hall is out of the mare Canland Hall, which makes him a three-quarter brother to Hall of Famer Cantab Hall and a full brother to the half-million dollar winner Chin Chin Hall. The $210,000 yearling raced in stakes exclusively in his first ten starts at two and three, with a second in a Tompkins Stake and thirds in Reynolds, Currier & Ives, and Geers competition.

CHESTER PA -- 2019 Harness Horse of the Year Shartin N qualified in 1:52.2 at Harrah's Philadelphia on Tuesday morning, with a :26.4 back quarter that showed her readiness for the rich season-ending events upcoming.

With the mare's regular driver Tim Tetrick at The Meadows for Keystone Classics stakes competition, trainer Jim King Jr., who himself has 3369 career sulky victories, guided the seven-year-old daughter of Tintin In America right to the front and rattled off fractions of :28.2, :57.3, and 1:25.3. He then let her speed on home in her first racetrack outing after winning the Artiscape Pace on August 16 at Tioga Downs..

King noted that the possibilities on the schedule of his mare, who is owned by his wife Jo Ann Looney-King, Richard Poillucci, and Tim Tetrick LLC, include the Dayton Distaff Derby, the Breeders Crown, and the TVG series.

Shartin N's entrymate in the high mares class, Soho Burning Love A, was also successful in a Philly qualifier, coming home in :27 in a 1:54.1 mile.
