WILKES-BARRE PA – The veteran Art Major mare Crazy Cute won for the third time in her last four starts in the top pacing mares class at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono. She covered a sloppy track in 1:51.2 in Monday’s $21,500 feature for her eleventh win of the year – one off the North American high for her group – and boosting her seasonal bankroll to $102,474.

And the crowd still let her go off at 8-1.

Major Occasion A, coming in off a 1:50.4 win in New Jersey, was accorded favoritism, and she worked to the lead past the :27 quarter, still retaining control at the :55.2 half. But driver Anthony Napolitano and Crazy Cute winging early in the backstretch and she went right by the favorite, hitting the three-quarters in 1:23.1 and continuing to stride out in defeating closer Shes Pukka N by 2¼ lengths. Pocono’s leading trainer Gilbert Garcia-Herrera also owns the frequent winner with Barbara Arnstine.

WILKES-BARRE PA – The Cash Hall gelding Chin Chin Hall, a winner of two of his last three starts in Open company at The Meadowlands, brought his sharp form with him to The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono Saturday afternoon, winning the $24,000 featured trot in 1:54.2.

Chin Chin All, the second choice, was hustled away by driver Tyler Buter (who topped all drivers on the day with four victories), making the top before the 26.4 opener, then stringing out favored Crystal Fashion until yielding to the double millionaire at the three-eighths. That one had immediate pressure from Morairtime, who was looped out of the gate and found no hole, and they battled through middle fractions of :55.1 and 1:24.1, with Chin Chin Hall in the pocket off the fireworks. The winner found room along the inside in the stretch and posted a half-length triumph over Warrior One, who rallied up the far inside after being shuffled to last during the front-end fight.

CHESTER PA – The Somebeachsomewhere gelding Whichwaytothebeach, so gallant in his 2-3 finishes in the Little Brown Jug, was the feature attraction on Friday afternoon at Harrah’s Philadelphia, and he did not disappoint. He won his $30,000 division of the Liberty Bell stakes for three-year-old pacing colts in 1:50.2; there were three sections for the pacers and two at a like purse for the trotters.

Todd McCarthy, top winner on the day at Philly with four victories, did not rush the star sophomore out of the gate, going up to grab the lead after a :26.4 quarter, then getting to the half in :55 and the three-quarters in 1:22.4. His Beats Hanover, from third-inside, made a good stretch showing but was still 1½ lengths off the winner of $515,729, who is trained by Brett Pelling for Alan Johnston and John Craig.

CHESTER PA – Harrah’s Philadelphia welcomed three-year-old fillies going in $30,000 divisions of the Liberty Bell stakes series, two sections for trotters and three for pacers, and only one favorite lived up to the crowd’s backing in the five divisions, where in contrast there were two good-paying longshot winners.

The one chalk that came through did so by the smallest possible margin, with the Cantab Hall filly Evening Stroll attacking pacesetter Dazzling Reign much of the backstretch and the length of the stretch, just earning the decision in the shadow of the wire over the pacesetter in 1:54.4. Tim Tetrick, who led all drivers on the day with four successes, handled the six-time seasonal winner for trainer Jim Campbell and owners Tony Holmes and Walter Zent.
