CHESTER PA – The Betting Line mare Pass And Stow overcame a rough trip from the outside post in the $13,000 fast-class distaff pacing feature Friday at Harrah’s Philadelphia, gamely grinding to the lead in the stretch and then holding off Mybitcoin by a neck in 1:52.1.
The favorite, Pressure Cooker, darted out to the immediate leader, with second choice One More Bet quickly filling the hole behind that one. That left Pass And Stow three- and then two-wide well past a :27.3 opening quarter, after which she did make her way into the three-hole, where she sat while Pressure Cooker passed the middle poles in :56.2 and 1:24.2.
Driver Jack Pelling moved Pass And Stow outside to challenge on the far turn and into the stretch, and the winner of $245,692 proved equal to the challenge, withstanding the late charge of Mybitcoin to tally for trainer Andrew Harris and the ownership of West Winds Stable and Mark Dumain.
Pelling came right back to win the $12,000 trotting section of the subfeature, not looking back with the Greenshoe sophomore gelding I’m Early Hanover and then holding off Morning Angel by a half-length in a new mark of 1:56.4, last quarter :28.3. Nola Leager trains and owns the four-time winner in his last eight starts.
Colin Kelly, the young Canadian horseman with over 2200 victories to his name already and trying the racing south of the border this season, won the female pacing division of the $12,000 sub-featured class for his first victory over the local oval. He sent the Stay Hungry sophomore filly Odds On Aces Full straight to command, then came home in :55.1 - :27.1 to complete a 1:52.1 success for trainer Scott Di Domenico and Odds On Racing.
George Napolitano Jr., a twelve-time crownwinner in the Philly driving ranks, posted four victories on the day, giving him thirteen tallies during the four September racing cards in which he has competed at Philly.
