SECOND RACE – ON THE EDGEOFGLORY went right down the road from the pole, and leaving out the second quarter breather into the wind she went her other three panels in 1:23.1 in an overpowering performance vs. this type. VRAKA HANOVER finally settled into the pocket 3/16, stayed tight, came out in the stretch, couldn’t gain on the strong winner but was clearly second-best. FUTURE LIFE was three-wide to the 3/16 in the quick opener, settled in third near the ¼, gapped from the 5/8 but still managed to take down the show. FRESH SQUEEZED got to third-over from last, then made a sharp lefthand turn nearing headstretch down into the Pocono Pike, OK. SHEEZGOTDAWOOGIES was looped and outside for a good part of the opener before getting inside, then uncovered 3/8, couldn’t reach the leaders. TERRA TERROR was very rank at the 1/8 and left a big hole, little. FAITHFUL FRIEND was not prominent. TRY N KEEP UP was third-over, three-wide around a gapper back to two-wide late backstretch, tried the three-deep path again but couldn’t make up ground. BROOKLETSSUGARLAND moved out at the 3/8 but started gapping out just past the ½.
THIRD RACE – BROADWAY CONCERT got to fourth-over, three-wide with cover on the turn then avoided the headstretch breaker, still three lengths behind midstretch but outfinished them all right on the money. SOUTHERN OAKS pulled raw from third 5/8 and went right to the lead ¾, held the lead until the last step. BDONKADONK HANOVER was in the early pocket after pushing a foe to the 1/8 then quarter-moved, a bit wide into turn two, couldn’t hold off the rush of the place horse ¾, tried to come back in the Pocono Pike late but came up a little shy. SHECHEATEDONDEWEY made a tuck 3/16, then moved out before the 5/8 and soon got cover, left uncovered ¾, held on well. MISS MARLENE gapped in front of the stands, was shuffled when the pocket horse tired then out in a blindswitch on the turn, wasn’t in the picture midstretch when she made a break and ran home, placed for violation of the breaking rules. COASTER HANOVER never entered into it. TROTTING MISSMISSY was out to the 1/8 for the lead, yielded for the pocket, empty on the far turn and broke in the stretch. NEPTUNE’S DAUGHTER was in a good flow, three-wide past midturn, asked for more late turn but responded with a break.
FOURTH RACE – PHANTOM RUSTY tucked third at the 1/8, gapped the pocket horse slightly then found a better gear 11/16 and moved out ¾, quickly ate into the leader’s margin, won safely. PETTY HANOVER was among the strung-out, outside into the stretch and just up for second late. RAGAZZO DOLCE got in gear quickly and set monstrous fractions of 26.3, 55.3, and 1:24.2 (bottom conditioned trotters) with a five length lead from the 3/8 until almost to the ¾, held gamely but had to pay for those early numbers. BORN TO FIGHT was ahead of RAGAZZO DOLCE for the first couple steps but quickly took the pocket, bottomed out chasing the big numbers. THUNDERWAY and NEW YORK ATTITUDE regained ground as the pace slowed; FRAC, not so much.
FIFTH RACE – JESSICA LAR BAR let between horses, was looped before the 3/16 and then had cover to that point, then was raw and went up to grab the lead 3/8, rated the half, in hand through the stretch despite the diminishing margin. BOOTSWITHTHEFUR left well to defend early positioning, came out raw past the 5/8, showed gameness for second. YAY ME sat in, then angled out in the lane and just caught PINA COLADA AS for third. The latter was three-wide past the 1/8 to the lead 3/16, yielded 3/8 for the pocket, evenly. QUANTUM UPTOWN BOY moved uncovered then got cover, gapped it and was never in it. FOX VALLEY SMARTY was never prominent. KERFUFFLE COOKIE was taking back to tuck fifth when running 3/16.
SIXTH RACE – UF LARRY ALLTHEWAY moved out at the ¼ causing an outside challenger to tuck, continued on to the lead just before the 3/8, opened a big margin down the back with a 27 third quarter, then was kept to rocking much of the stretch to stay well clear. JOHNNY Z refused to yield in a 26.2 opener and got his outside challenger to go inside, then yielded to the winner, loose in the pocket from the 5/8 but far ahead of all the rest. TALKING BLUES was able to come up the inside to the 5/8 as a railbound horse drifted out, just up in a three-way photo for a far-distant third. SAFE HARBOR went three-wide on the far turn and had a bit of belated rally. JETSKI LOUIE went head-to-head with JOHNNY Z in a 26.2 first panel before tucking, fell back from just before the 5/8. THE FIRE WITHIN was uncovered without much. GOTTA LOVE HIM and RIVER RUN FOR RYAN were always far back. IN RUNAWAY BAY N left, took back hard to get into the 4-hole, started to come out at the half but had nothing, then drifted out.
SEVENTH RACE – DOLCE DUCCI pushed out from the rail then yielded to the ¼, sat well-placed in the pocket, to the Pocono Pike and went by easily, a double for the Shickshinny Blacksmith. DEB ON BROADWAY was out all the way, briefly three-wide 5/16 to get to first-over, challenged hard, held with great courage. TOMMY BAR was three-wide to the 1/8, then two-wide between horses and made the lead 5/16, set the pace with pressure, tired. PEE WEE HANOVER was so-so inside. PRETTY EDGY was four-wide early then three-wide to the 3/16, then took back for cover, found an inside spot 5/16, moved out again to second-over, three-wide on the far turn, couldn’t gain late after an extraordinarily rough trip. MARTZ CREEK LILY was no factor. MANDELA BLUE CHIP came out 5/8 but gapped. CHARGIN CREDIT was never close then dropped back further. DEWEY DON’T CHEAT broke w-a-y before the start.
EIGHTH RACE – MILLBROOK HANOVER wasted little time getting the lead, rated the half, stayed in command throughout. EXPLOSIVE BROTHER was three-wide early after being looped by the winner, took a 4-tuck 3/16, outside on the turn, four-wide headstretch, finished steadily. BOMBARDIER moved with cover into turn two, left uncovered past the 5/8 as his cover broke, continued on well. TROTAMUNDO moved out behind cover, swung three-wide late on the final turn, looked like he might have had enough to get second but ran midstretch and ran home, placed for LOB. KEYSTONE CHARGER raced inside. ITSTARTEDWITHABEER came through at the start and got the pocket, but gapped out 11/16. LION BRAND was far back when going offstride 5/8. BYOB was uncovered at the 3/8, looking to find a little more when going offstride 11/16. NINETIETH MINUTE jumped the second the gate sprang.
NINTH RACE – MASS BALANCE took the pocket right away and was under a hold there alongside the parked horse, then gained into the 57.2 -28.2 from the Pocono Pike to get the lead midstretch and then hold off LINDYLICIOUS. The latter was three-wide to the first turn, then backed off to follow cover before settling in fifth, came off the rail late turn and swung wide, closed well and might have taken it all if finding top gear a little more quickly. V FOR VICTORY moved outside at the ¾, did well but came up a bit shy. MULTITASKR HANOVER dashed right to the top, could rate quarter two despite the parked horse, then was outsprinted home. EYESEENOW never entered the main picture. EXPLOSIVE YANKEE came outside from far back, three-wide 11/16 to go around the parked horse but couldn’t gain enough. SCREAMING CONWAY was looped and left out in the air, started fading to the 5/8. L DEE BLISS was not prominent when breaking in the stretch.
TENTH RACE – SWEET BET was four-wide leaving and three-wide to the 1/8, then had cover, lost it 3/16 and went up to get the lead 5/16, set a good tempo, had BODACIOUS BECKY narrowing in late but proved to have enough for that one. The latter was three-wide leaving then two-wide to 3/16 command, yielded to the winner for the two-hole, outside early stretch and gained slowly but surely, but not quite enough. FOX VALLEY KIT used the rail to keep in good position, started struggling behind the top two on the turn but was far ahead of the others at the wire. PANDAMAN SEA avoided the sluggish outer tiers. AMERICAN FILLY was looped and two-wide, then three-wide 5/8 back to two-wide raw and got even with the pocket horse ¾, but then gave way. CANDY STYX N had too far to come. RACHEL REIGN followed cover from the 3/8 but didn’t have enough. WARRAWEE QUALLY was stuck out three-wide to the 5/16 before getting to get to two-wide with cover, backed up from the 9/16.
ELEVENTH RACE – CATCH ALL went right to the lead, was never threatened, opened up a big lead, and was on his own late, which accounts for the diminishing margin. BARNABY RUDGE took the pocket before the 1/8, couldn’t keep up late backstretch, did trot on gamely and held second over MY COUSIN VINNIE, who popped out without cover 9/16 and went on steadily. EL PESCADORO stayed in, a bit behind the top ones. MILLVILLE ROAD moved outside and three-wide late turn, too far to come. CRAZIVILLE went evenly inside. KEYSTONE BLADE went outside at the half but didn’t gain contention. DANGEROUSDEWMCGREW moved out 11/16 but soon made a break. LEROYS DREAM was looped leaving and galloped before turn one.
TWELFTH RACE – WHAT A PEACH got the lead pretty easily, walked to the half, then came home in 55.4, first going 27.4 to repel a big backstretch charge from CHIPPS LAKE, then went on in 28 to make the task difficult enough for DREAMSTEELER that he went offstride trying to pass him. The latter sat the pocket, tipped in to the Pocono Pike, was cautiously handled, gained then made a break trying to summon a little more to get the job done; an inquiry into the break revealed no violations. CHIPPS LAKE came raw at the half and went 27.2 down the back, getting a nose up before the ¾, but he couldn’t sustain the move from midturn, still very good as clearly third-best. JOETUCKY was outside past the 3/8, got cover at the half, gapped. CALIPARI never factor from inside. TAXED TO THE MAX never entered into it.
THIRTEENTH RACE – LUCKY COLBY was four-wide into turn one, three-wide just past the 1/8, and out until nearing the 3/8, using much energy to get the lead, yielded right away for the pocket and stayed on the leader’s back, outside to headstretch and just did catch the leading HASTY PROFITT in the last five steps. The latter came out in front of the stands as the winner was ready to clear and stepped right around that one to the front, went on gamely but couldn’t quite last all the way to the line while far ahead of the rest. KANDY KORN was uncovered on the second turn, gradually backed off the last ¼ and just held third over GLOBAL ICE. The latter stayed in, found room between horses before midstretch and had a burst on the end. CREDIT CREATION tried going three-wide around gapping cover but could only salvage the last check. CAROLINKIA was three-wide to the first turn to the lead at the 1/8, made the leader work very hard before turning him loose, couldn’t keep up 11/16. TEA PARTY POLITICS was second-over but gapped out to the ¾. POINTE OF HONOUR left but was looped and had to take back, swung wide into the stretch but couldn’t make a dent.
