FIRST RACE – Temperature started at 48o – and went up to 50o near the end of the card! … “Sloppy +1” all night … Slight headwind to start … CAN DO left well, forced a tuck, then yielded for the pocket, stayed tightly-connected, to the Pocono Pike, and right by just past midstretch. MILITARY
FIRST RACE – Temperature started at 48o – and went up to 50o near the end of the card! … “Sloppy +1” all night … Slight headwind to start … CAN DO left well, forced a tuck, then yielded for the pocket, stayed tightly-connected, to the Pocono Pike, and right by just past midstretch. MILITARY
BLUE quarter-moved and headed down the road, had to settle for second. ANDOVER THE CASH was a little hard to put in the early pocket past the 1/8, inside, outside stretch, a bit late. MASSIVE WINNER was second-over, three-wide ¾ but lost ground in the last quarter. DREAM ROCKER started the outside train 3/8, made a good move to go up to challenge the leader but only got as close as that one’s wheel before fading. DOLCE DUCCI was outside, never in it. NEW IDENTITY had very little late.
SECOND RACE – RONNY BUGATTI was midpack behind the cutthroat numbers, moved out late backstretch and steadily made up ground from there to go by easily in 1:51, fastest mile of the year at PcD (in the second-lowest class). CADILLAC PHIL was looped between horses but went on early to get the pocket, gapped behind the wild pace, tighter ¾, along for second on the inside. HONEY I’M HOME (whose dam is the producer of SWEET LOU and BETTOR SWEET) was out on a mission, having three lengths soon after the 1/8 and just stringing these out in searing numbers, couldn’t sustain in the last 1/16. MR CENSI came out down the backstretch, couldn’t stay with the winner but continued to gain. BUSBOY HANOVER raced third-inside and lasted for the last check. THE OTHERS needed binoculars to have a good view of this one.
THIRD RACE – EDINBURGH sat third, came out in a brief blindswitch as MILLBROOK HANOVER went to the lead 11/16 then tucked in the pocket, to the Pocono Pike and outtrotted that rival late. The latter yielded for the pocket 3/16, came out 11/16 and went right past a tiring leader, held off everybody but the pocket rocket. KEYSTONE CHARGER stayed inside, finished steadily; the same could be said of DANISH DELIGHT, who missed third in a photo. MARION GONDOLIER backed out to second-over, three-wide past the 5/8 when his cover tired and was left three-wide with the changes on the front end near the ¾, two-wide on the turn, little left the last 200 feet. BOINGANATOR ran w-a-y before the start but made a pretty good recovery. MOSCONI HANOVER broke leaving, broke near the ¾, then broke again just before the wire, placed. JUDGE RUSSELL was three-wide leaving to the point 3/16 in a good quarter, all done when challenged before the ¾. UP FRONT FAIRWAY came up uncovered towards the 3/8, but he could make his bid last only until just past the 5/8, dropped sharply back.
FOURTH RACE – UF DRAGON’S QUEEN took the two-hole trip, may’ve been bottomed some chasing the fast fractions because despite a great trip and the Pocono Pike (and a 30.3 last quarter), she just did get the job done. THAT WOMAN HANOVER made the lead past the 1/8 in a 26 opener and made a heroic try on the front end, almost lasted in game showing. BROWN BRINNY started first-up towards the second turn, gained steadily until into the stretch, then just did not have the needed late kick to go by. SHE’S HEAVENLY tucked third, backed out 5/8 to second-over as the top four were way ahead of the rest, OK in the lane. GINGERTREESCARLETT was way back and in a blindswitch ¾, found room to go three-wide and made up a ton of ground (albeit in a slow kicker). TIGER BOUDOIR gapped second-over. COVER UP HALL tried to gain three-wide at the ¾ but could not. KEYSTONE COUGAR was not heard from. RODEO BLUES tucked fourth 3/16, backed up through the last half.
FIFTH RACE – GIANT MUSCLES got into the outside flow shortly after the quarter and advanced, looped embattled leaders 5/8 to the lead 11/16, had to hold off the tough late bid of LEAVE YOUR MARK but proved equal to the task. LEAVE YOUR MARK was four-wide leaving and three-deep to the 3/16, worked very hard to make the lead before the 3/8, came back out after the winner swept the field and retucked second, gained steadily through the lane after a mile expending a great deal of energy -- sharp. PINA COLADA AS was three-wide early to the top at the 1/8, shuffled in the contentious second quarter, able to get out and retuck third to the ¾, clearly third-best. CREAMPUFF MACDADDY worked into an early spot, evenly. FOX VALLEY SMARTY passed tired or dull horses. DOC was in the outside flow but couldn’t keep up trying to make up ground three-wide. BALTIMORE AS raced with cover until approaching the clubhouse turn, whereupon was left coverless, faded rapidly down the back. OH THAT GIRL offered very little. DRIVEN was behind cover leaving, left uncovered before the 3/8, went right up to command into turn two, looped by the winner, made a break midturn and was taken inside the course.
SIXTH RACE – CANDY STYX N made two speed moves, ran off and hid from these in the last ¼. HEAVENLY BET got underway before the 3/8 and soon had cover, three-wide ¾ to two-wide late turn, just second in a three-way photo. MYDELIGHT BLUECHIP was looped leaving, got the top at the 1/8 as the leader broke, yielded to the winner, couldn’t keep up from midturn. HARPER LEE went evenly. MCCOVEY COVE N showed little; ENERGIZER IVY showed less. NORTHERN B B went first-up coming to turn two, faded badly in the last ¼. EXOTIC FLIGHT cleared right to the top from PP8 but then broke just past the 1/8.
SEVENTH RACE – SIX GUN left strongly and forced the other two main leavers to tuck, went fast odd-numbered quarters, needed rocking and urging to hold off those two. MADIBA MAGIC N was three-wide leaving, tucked third 3/16, moved three-wide approaching headstretch and finished steadily. FLIGHT DECK N left well and settled into the pocket, outside for the drive, evenly. PRINCE ASTON got jammed up before the 5/8 when his cover backed off, then could come through when said cover then drifted wide, distant fourth. THE FIRE WITHIN moved three-wide on the far turn, looked rough, did get the last check. CANT KNOCK ME was not heard from. WILLEY BITE gapped down the back, returned with “b.e.” THE GREEN KNIGHT never got a call. IN RUNAWAY BAY N came first-over past the 3/8, suddenly lost his action before the 5/8, then drifted wide.
EIGHTH RACE – ALLWILLWORKOUT made two speed moves to control the throttle, came home in 56.4 and survived a late Pocono Pike charge by NEW EVIDENCE. The latter was looped but followed the winner and tucked third, made a tiny break coming off the second turn but recovered, inside, got a chance to use the Pike as the pocketsitter came out and was making up ground rapidly late. VENENO was three-wide leaving to the front 3/16, yielded for the pocket, outside headstretch, stayed close throughout the stretch fight. STAR OF TERROR came uncovered at the half but didn’t seem to have much fire tonight. BULLPUP came up the inside, fair for the last payday. MC DAN was hindered by the gapping and dull cover of CARIBOU BEACH. THE OTHER TWO were already gapping early.
NINTH RACE – MY LOVE BI left, yielded, regained with a quarter-move, absorbed the hard pressure of STORMONT PARK down the backstretch, then drew clear through the last 1/8, last half 57.3. SCIROCCO JAKOB was outside just past the 1/8 for the lead, yielded to the winner, struggled to keep up in the fast third quarter, but kept at it steadily in the stretch and regained the distant second. STORMONT PARK angled an early tuck fourth, then started first-up towards the second turn, was right at the winner’s throat while trotting a third quarter of 28.1 raw, held gamely but paid for the early exertions and could not hold second. MY COUSIN VINNIE went evenly inside. THERAPEUTIC was out second-over at the half but almost immediately gapped. C-O-TO BLUEGRASS was three-high to the first turn then tucked third, not heard from thereafter. TEA PARTY POLITICS was outside with very little. SERIOUS SAVANNAH was in the middle of the leavers when making a break just past the start. HERE COMES SAM jumped 50 yards before the start.
TENTH RACE – ARIELLE LYNN came out with perfect cover at the half, tipped three-wide headstretch after the two front ones slugged it out most of the last half, just did get the advantage very late, but did come home in 56.1. JEWEL LEHIGH A insisted on the early lead in a fast 1/8, then yielded 3/8 for the pocket, stayed tight, to the Pocono Pike, may’ve gotten a nose up 20 yards before the wire, just outkicked. LOVINEVERYMINUTE had the fastest steps when the gate sprang but track geometry (and two intent foes) made her take the 3-hole at the 1/8, fought the very hard first-over bid of SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR, lasted nicely. The latter wanted the lead but was forced into the early pocket by an insistent JEWEL LEHIGH A, came first-over just past the half and threw tons of pressure on the leader, didn’t falter in gameness to the wire. BAZOOKA TERROR gapped inside down the back, then went wide in the lane and finished well for the last check. JADED DREAM was in the Pocono Pike, evenly. WHISKERSONKITTENS tucked fifth, gapped early off the second turn but then tightened in towards the ¾, so-so late. THE OTHER DUO were always far back.
ELEVENTH RACE – ALBANY GIRL sat sail and never looked back, widening her lead from before the 5/8 to headstretch, then coasting home for the sharp Ford stable, their third of the night – two with ANap and one with GNap. GIRLLOOKATTHATBODY, out with cover early, got around the early breaker three-wide to the 1/8, tucked, then came second-over, three-wide midturn and chopped significantly into the winner’s lead though not looking threatening. OLYMPIC MEDAL dipped into the deep Pocono Pike and had a very good last 1/16. ENVIOUS HANOVER was three-wide until GOD FORBID N broke, then took the pocket 3/16, started unplugging from the winter 5/8. SHESGOTTHEBEAT didn’t go-go too much tonight. LIFE IS A BEACH ducked in third early, then was the first-over but saw the winner draw away from her. BODACIOUS BECKY gapped early, followed cover two- and three-wide but couldn’t make a dent. SHUCKED was way back through. GOD FORBID N left between horses and was actually first when she made a bad break into turn one
TWELFTH RACE – FUTURE LIFE was four-wide into the first turn then took back to follow cover, left raw after the 27.2 quarter (last ¾ = 1:30) and went to the lead just before the 3/8, had all kinds of pressure thrown at her but was game and got the job done. ON THE EDGEOFGLORY left but took back early, started raw just before the half, squeezed the leader most of the last half, was still coming on at the finish. SHEEZGOTDAWOOGIES gapped slightly second-over 11/16, wide in the lane, found her best strides a trifle too late. TRY N KEEP UP left inside three other leavers, yielded for the early pocket and stayed in, had direct access to the Pocono Pike as the pocketsitter was empty and thus could not go inside, with a good burst nearing the wire. LOVE THAT BADLANDS was three-wide to the 1/8 and two-wide to the fast quarter in grabbing the racetrack, yielded for the pocket, not much left for crunch time. FAITHFUL FRIEND sat in, had some pace between horses late. BESTEST HANOVER was fourth-over behind a dull one, four-wide, OK. SPECIAL KIM was third-over, gapped a gapper down the back. FOX VALLEY KIT looked o be laboring in last much of the way.
THIRTEENTH RACE – CHAT SNAP closed the hole after the 3/16 breaker, could wait in the strung-out field until the 11/16, then was given the word and grabbed on the bit, pacing right to the lead on the turn and drawing off – tough Weiss filly. DOC’S DIVA showed good speed to get the lead and set the pace, couldn’t deal with the winner but held gamely to win the photo for second over LOVE ME SOME RUSTY. The latter left for the pocket, pulled out behind the winner past midturn, couldn’t quite reach second. TICA HANOVER was the first to pull behind the winner on the turn but was beaten to the spot by LOVE ME SOME RUSTY, couldn’t keep up in the last 1/8. JANETTE’S IMAGE was away fourth, took a bad step 3/16 and broke, recovered well and was parked, thereafter was engaged in a “match race” for fifth with APPLE PIE HANOVER, with the former winning the last check. THE LAST PAIR was already losing contact by the second turn.
FOURTEENTH RACE – CHEAP N EASY, wide early, made the lead 3/16, rated the half, then overpowered TWIN B ELITE and left the rest way in the moist red dirt with a 56.1 last half with rocking. TWIN B ELITE made the lead into the first turn and yielded for the two-hole, did her best but only second-best. LIVE ODDS was behind struggling cover, four-wide on the far turn, up for third over ROCKLINDAROCK, who was shuffled to last and five-wide late on the turn launching her stretch drive. THE FILLY PRINCESS tried going three-wide when cover stalled on the far turn but had little. THE EMPIRESISTER N was first-up but got nowhere near the leader. PAN LUIS OBISPO tucked, then fell far back, as did ANTY ENTITY.
