WILKES-BARRE PA – His full sister Phaetosive was an impressive winner in a qualifier on Saturday, and now the Explosive Matter – Phaeton gelding Explosivebreakaway has shown he may be ready for an outstanding year in 2019, winning his first trip behind the gate in 1:56.1 at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono Wednesday morning.
The three-year-old came a pair of :28.2 quarters in the back half to close from sixth and take the triumph. Last year Explosivebreakaway posted a 5-3-2-0 record, winning his last start, a Liberty Bell stake, in 1:57.4.
