A fine assemblage of fast pacing power has been gathered here this afternoon at Harrah's Philadelphia, and if the times from Opening Day, last Sunday, are any indication, we should again be in for some very swift racing and new lifetime marks this afternoon. High-level conditioned pacers going for $17,500 in race 11; the section just below that one racing for $15,000 in events 4 and 8; the $16,000 high-end claiming handicap group slotted for the 5th race; and a group racing for the same purse leading off the card in the transitional "nw 5 races" class: excellent horses -- and horsemen -- should provide racing fans a treat today. 4th race:We're taking a little shot that HALL BRO will be able to use his inside starting position to great advantage today, and may be a bit of a price in this good group. Last week he left the switch in about 13 seconds to the 1/8 to clear from PP8 at Pocono, and held third to two very rough customers. A good trip (and good luck) may get a good payday.

10th race :VAPOUR N has been dropping steadily in class since his return to the races, and probably not coincidentally, his lines are looking better and better as he finds a winning level. Last time he had to take on the dreaded "tuck-then-first-over" journey at DD(5/8), and missed only a length. Drops a little, gets a better PP -- this may be his breakthrough day.
12th race: MONTANA PABLO A must be taken with a grain of salt: his last race at Yonkers wasn't very good, as he gapped and then had little stretch punch. However, he had missed a race prior to that one, and had shown excellent form vs. top-level horses at Fhld (note his line vs. VERSADO's on 3-11). Taking a chance he'll be better today with a class dip.
13th race:MYSHARONA BLUECHIP was involved in a race where there was an initial malfunction of the timer, and he showed sharp enough speed to force a pocket tuck in front of the stands from the eventual winner. Also VERY interesting is that George Nap chose this one instead of #2 -- who merely went the fastest mile of that day! Should be well-placed.
